Why I built Zinvoice
I built the thing I wanted for my own freelance work.
“I wanted invoices, hours and payments to use the same client record.”
I had invoices in one place, hours somewhere else and a spreadsheet telling me who had paid. Then every so often I needed a client agreement signed and another bit of software appeared.
Zinvoice grew out of fixing that. I still use it for my own client work, so it stays focused on the jobs that actually come up.
It does not submit tax returns, prepare VAT returns, run payroll, connect to bank feeds or replace professional financial advice.

No. Zinvoice creates and sends invoices and adds records around client work. It does not provide VAT accounting, ledgers, payroll, bank reconciliation, VAT returns, prepared accounts or direct HMRC filing.
Yes. Start a timer or add time manually, associate it with a client and optional project, mark it billable when appropriate, and select eligible unbilled time for an invoice.
No. Both are optional. Use a project when a job has several invoices, hours or documents, and track time when hourly billing matters. You can create invoices directly for a client without using either feature.
Yes. Choose a prefix and the next number to use, then Zinvoice increases the number for new invoices. This lets you continue an existing sequence when moving from spreadsheets, Word, Canva, or another system.
Yes. Upload a finished one-off agreement PDF or reuse a saved standard agreement, then choose whether the client should sign it or simply read it. When a signature is needed, you sign first and the client receives a private link to read the PDF, type their full name, confirm their agreement, and sign online. Zinvoice keeps the exact sent copy and dated activity, then emails the completed signed PDF to both sides. You remain responsible for the agreement wording and whether it is suitable and legally valid.
Yes. Set up the client, line items, dates, frequency and delivery choice. Each generated invoice can be emailed automatically, or created as a draft for you to review and send manually.
